Media training
Media training that makes experts sound human - and PR pitches journalists actually want
“The team absolutely loved it. Honestly it was so valuable, and I can’t wait to see the small benefits it has over the coming weeks and months.”
Skilling up your staff
Interviews fall flat because experts default to detail. Pitches get ignored because they start with features, not stories. The result is missed opportunities and risk on air. Change that now.
Chris combines his extensive practical experience in journalism and his accredited teaching, honed over nearly a decade as a lecturer in journalism at Newcastle University, to deliver quality training for universities and schools, as well as businesses.
He has trained the cross-university fempower.tech research group about liaising with the media, and more than 80 nutrition MSc students at Oxford Brookes University over several years. He has also delivered a bespoke one-day workshop on AI for the Government of Jersey, in collaboration with Crafting Hope CIC.
Chris offers two off-the-shelf media training programmes at competitive prices:
“Media Mastery” media training for universities and research groups
A practical workshop that turns subject matter experts into confident communicators. No theory for theory’s sake - drills and feedback that stick.
“Pitch Perfect” media training for PR and marketing businesses
A session for comms teams who want fewer emails and more coverage. Built from seeing thousands of pitches a year - and what works and what doesn’t.
